Leah Jackson awarded bursary at Sense of Taste Chef School

We are delighted to announce another year of our collaboration with the Sense of Taste Chef School in Cape Town, South Africa. Owned by Peter Ayub, a renowned chef, author and TV presenter, Sense of Taste has a reputation for being Cape Town’s most dynamic and personalised Chef School.
The Bridge Awards has provided a bursary for a student to undertake the Professional Chef training and the current recipient is Leah Jackson. Leah, who is 18 years old, has a passion for food and the food industry. She was brought up by her grandparents and when her grandfather was diagnosed with heart failure, she became aware of both the impact of food on our health and how it contributes to our everyday enjoyment of life and our happiness. Leah says:
‘Before he passed, I promised my grandfather that I would go to culinary school and make him proud. This is my dream. I am not the best cook yet, but I know that with the right training and support, I can become great. My love for food is deep, and I want to use my skills to bring joy to others, the same way food brought joy to my grandfather. This bursary will help me follow my dream and honour my grandfather’s memory. I promise to work hard, stay dedicated, and do my best every day.’
